Tuscany

Tuscany has been a popular destination for holidays and vacations for centuries. Amongst it's most famous assets are Florence and Siena, but it also has some lesser known towns which can provide an excellent holiday destination.

Pisa

At the mouth of the Arno river Pisa is most famous for it's leaning tower in the Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles).  The leaning tower is the bell tower of the Cathedral of Pisa and is an attraction for anybody on holiday in the Tuscany area.

Viareggio

Viareggio is a typically Italian holiday resort on the Tyrrhenian Sea and is well known for its boutiques and cafe's which ooze Italian style. Viareggio proves to be a popular year round holiday resort for both Italians and non Italians and is famed for its lively Carnevale parade in February.

Elba

20km off the coast of Tuscany, Elba is the third largest Island in Italy. Holiday makers will find that spending 3 or 4 days on Elba will provide a wonderfully relaxing break.

Pienza

Pienza is often referred to as the Pearl of the Renaissance and offers holiday makers a wonderful experience of the art and architecture found throughout Tuscany.

Pienza is in the Val d'Orcia in Tuscany, in the province of Siena.

Arrezo

Arrezo is a great gem of an example of Italian Renaissance and was even the home of Petrarch who together with Dante was heralded as one of the fathers of the Renaissance.

Arrezo offers great attractions for those on holiday including the medieval Piazza Grande, numerous churches and a roman ampitheatre. Arrezo is also host to a medieval festival, the Joust of the Saracens where Knights on horseback  as well as a popular music and culture festival called the Arrezo Wave.

Arrezo is located approximately 80km south east of Florence.

San Gimignano

Fouunded by the Etruscans in the 3rd Century San Gimigano is a small walled town on a hilltop in Tuscany. Its many towers have been known to remind people of a medieval version Manhatten.
